"Holy mother of. . ." Matt said sounding terified. "Jesus Christ!"
I jumped and screamed.
"What the fuck are you doing?" He asked. He sounded really mad. I sat down on the couch. I started laughing really hard. We heard a loud bang and we both jumped. "Don't EVER do that to me again." He said. I leaned onto my side up against his arm. He was shaking a little and breathing heavy. "Not very funny." He said.
"So, who's scared now?" I asked.
"You just scared the living shit out of me." He said.
"Uh huh. . . a little freaked out by the movie hu?" I teased.
He sat up and sighed. "Okay, so they scare me a little." He said.
I giggled. "I knew it."
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Kiss me." I giggled.
"Okay now, drunkie." He said. He stood up and grabbed my hand. He started walking me back to his bedroom. I layed down in his bed. He put the covers over me. "Goodnight." He said laughing.
"No!" I said.
"Sam, you're just drunk." He said. "You love Nick. Remember?"
"I'm not ready to get married." I said.
"You're engaged?" He asked sounding shocked.
"I may as well be." I said.
"Why do you say that? You don't even live in the same state." He said.
"He was ready to ask me to marry him. He got my Dad's permission and everything." I explained. I started to cry.
"Oh boy. . ." He said. He climbed into bed with me.
"I want to be with him, but sometimes I feel like he is way ahead of me." I said.
He sighed.
"He's a really great guy and I do have a lot of love for him. He knows how to treat a women. He's polite. Super sweet. . ." I said.
"But?"
"I don't know if we're in the same place anymore. He's ready for marriage and kids and I'm still trying to find my place." I said. "I'm not the same girl as the rest of them. I don't want to just stay home cooking and raising children while he is out making all the money."
"Tell him that." He said.
"I'm not like the rest of them." I said.
"I know. Tell him that." He laughed.
"It's what he wants." I said. "He wants a girl he can support on his own and spoil her. Which is what most of the woman there want too. I just don't think I do."
He laughed.
"It's not funny." I said, hitting him playfully.
"Did you wake me up to scare me? Or to tell me this?" He said.
"No. So you could kiss me." I said.
"So I could kiss YOU?" He asked laughing. "I think YOU wanted to kiss ME?"
"Forget it." I said. I pulled the covers over my head and curled up on my side.
"Sam. Come on." He said.
"You started this. Not me." I said.
"Then let's finish it." He said.
I didn't say anything. I was trying not to cry.
"That's what I thought." He said. He got up and left the room. I jumped up and ran after him.
"Sam! You gotta stop scaring me like this!" He shouted as he tripped over the carpet and fell back onto the couch. I jumped on top of him. "You're my boss." I said.
"I am." He said.
"I think I deserve a raise." I said.
He laughed.
I put my hands on his cheeks and pushed them together so his lips looked like he was making a fish face. He rolled his eyes and I let go laughing. "You're weird." He said.
I giggled.
"Okay, get off my lap." He said laughing.
"Whoa." He said looking down.
"Ooops." I said when I remembered I was still in my underwear.
"Okay, little lady. I think you've teased me enough." He said.
"No I havn't." I said. I stood up and turned with my back facing him. I pulled my shirt off over my head and let it slide off my left arm onto the floor. "You coming?" I asked as I walked slowly to his bedroom.
