There was a knock on my door early the next morning.
"Yeah?" I yelled, yawning. The door opened, and my mom walked in.
"Where were you last night?" She asked me.
"I was out with Nick, Brit, and Ricky. Why?" I told her.
"I needed to go over wedding stuff. We moved your date up to next month." She said.
"WHAT?" I asked, sitting up.
"It's the only way to book the country club." She said. "So I called your bridesmaids and we are all going shopping for dresses today." She said.
"MOM! I havn't even picked my bridesmaids! I'm suposed to be getting married NEXT SPRING!" I shouted.
"Well, not anymore. Artica is being a doll and sending the invitations out tonight. We are having a shower for you in two weeks, and an engagement party for you and Nick next weekend. Oh, and I just went aheand and told Anna, Gila, Tiffany, and Allison they are your bridesmaids.
"What??? What about BRIT! Who the HELL are Tiffany and Allison?" I asked.
"The daughters of one of your Fathers close business associates. Brit can't be in the wedding, because we already have four bridesmaids." She said.
"SCREW THIS! We're just going to VEGAS!" I screamed at her.
"Just get dressed. We have a busy day ahead of us." She said, and left. I did get up and get dressed. But I didn't meet her downstairs. Instead I just drove to Nicks house.
"Hello Miss Samantha." Thomas, their butler, answered.
"Hello Thomas. Is Nick home?" I asked him.
"Yes. Follow me. And congratulations." He said.
"Thank you." I told him, and followed him inside. He walked into the entrance room and pressed an intercom.
"Master Nick. A guest to see you." Thomas said.
"Who?" Nick asked.
"Miss Samantha." Thomas replied.
"I'll be right there." He said. I only had to wait a moment before he came out. Thomas excused himself and left Nick and I alone.
"What's wrong? I've got to meet some clients at the gulf course in 20 minutes." He said. I just then noticed he was in his gulfing clothes. He must have been just about to head out.
"Mom mom moved the wedding up to next month." I told him.
"Yeah, my mom told me this morning." He said, and kissed me.
"Nick! This doesn't freak you out? We were suposed to get married next spring!" I said.
"No. What's the big deal. We'll just live hapily ever after sooner." He said.
"I don't believe this." I muttered.
"What?" He asked.
"This is our wedding, and you don't care." I told him.
"I do care. Look, can we talk about this later? I've really got to go." He said.
"No Nick. I need to talk now." I told him.
"I'm sorry. I'll be back home at 1:00. I'll call you." He said. He kissed me and left before I could even respond.
"I don't believe this." I said, standing in Nicks house. I sighed, and let myself out. I was pissed off, and decided I really needed to talk to Johnny. Or Jaime even! It seemed like I suddenly had more in common with Jaime now. At least as far as not wanting to be like everyone else. I got there and knocked on the door. One of Jaime's friends opened the door.
"Hey." He said.
"Jaime?" I asked.
"He's at the gym." his friend answered.
"Johnny?" I asked. I was trying really hard not to freak out and start crying.
"Sleeping." He said. I pushed my way through the door and ran back to Johnny's room. I opened the door, and Jonny woke up.
"Sam?" He asked. "What is going on?" I shut the door and climbed into bed with him.
"Sam, you can't be in here." He said.
"Please?" I asked, crying.
"Sam, I still like you. It's not a good idea ofr you to be in bed with me." He said.
"I just need to talk!" I yelled.
"Okay, okay. What is it?" He asked.
"I can't do this! I CAN'T!" I said.
"What?"
"The wedding! I can't! My mom moved the date to next month! Nothing is how I want it. It's not even my wedding!" I told him, sobbing.
"And Nick just keeps blowing everything off like it's nothing." I said.
"Sam. You don't have to do this." he said.
"Yes I do." I told him.
"No you don't. It's your life sweety." He said. He had never called me that before. I looked at him, then pulled him into me and started kissing him.
"Sam. SAM!" He said, pulling away.
"What?" I asked.
"You are just upset." He said. "Just call of the engagement until you and Nick are ready to actualy get married." He said.
"I don't want to be with Nick." I told him.
"You don't? Sam you love him. I'm not real fond of the guy, but I know you love him." He said.
"No I don't." I told him. He looked at me confused. "I love what we used to have. I love the idea of him. But I don't think I love him the same way anymore. Everytime I'm with him it's amazing, but when he isn't around it doesn't bother me. I don't miss him."
"Sam. You are amazing." Johnny said, and laughed. I started laughing too, and layed down on my back. Johnny rolled over on top of me and started kissing me. We kept going and started having sex. I didn't even think about it. If I had, I probably wouldn't have done it. There was a knock on Johnny's door.
"LATER!" He shouted.
"DUDE! Some chicks mom is here." Someone shouted back.
"Fuck. It's my mom." I said.
"Looking for Jaime's Sister!" The guy added.
"Just a minute!" Johnny shouted. He started to get up, but I stopped him. He looked at me and I smiled. He smiled back and kissed me. We finished a minute later, and both got up and started getting dressed. Suddenly Johnny's door flew open.
"SAMANTHA!" My mom shrieked. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?"
"I just DID someone who actually cares about me!" I shouted at her.
"Get dressed! We're getting out of here." She shouted at me. She looked at Johnny. "AND YOU! How dare YOU!"
"I came to him." I told her. She looked like she was going to expload, but turned and walked away instead. I got dressed, kissed Johnny, then ran after her. She was outside waiting in her car. Dennis was driving her. "She is too good to even drive herself to come and find me." I said to msyelf. Her window rolled down.
"Get in. We'll get your car later." She said.
"NO, I can drive myse-"
"NOW!" She demanded. I climbed in the back seat next to her. "Drive." She told Dennis.
"Mom. I can't do this. I can't marry Nick." I told her.
"You can, and you will. We have been waiting for you two to get married for years!" She said.
"It's not fair! I can't do that to Nick mom! I don't want this life. I keep thinking I do, but I don't. At least not right now. And Nick is going to be an amazing husband. But not for me." I told her.
"I don't believe this. I don't believe what I'm hearing!" She said.
"Mom, I don't want this." I told her, and started to cry. She looked at me and her face softened.
"You really don't want this do you?" She asked. I shook my head no.
"We'll hold off. I'll move the date back. Give you and Nick some time to get to know each other again. No one has to know about Johnny." She said. It sounded almost pathetic. Like she was begging me.
"No. Mom, it's over." I told her. She looked upset, but she didn't say anything. Dennis drove us home and I ran right to my room. I layed in bed and was startled when my door opened a few minutes later. It was Nick.
"What is it?" He asked. "Your mom said there was an emergancy. She called me when I was on the golf course. I came over as soon as I could." He said.
