"New York, New York! It's another beautiful day here in the city..." My radio alarm clock went off. I hit the snooze with my hand and then rubbed my head. It was pounding! I flipped on the light and nearly blinded myself.
"Shit." I muttered. I turned the light back off and went back to sleep. I woke up to pounding on my front door. I looked at the clock and it was 9:00am! I sat up and grabbed my head. I climbed out of bed and realized I was naked. I thought that was weird because I never slept naked.I pulled my comfortor off the bed to wrap around me and screamed! There was a guy in my bed! He rolled over and I suddenly remembered the night before. Johnny Sat up, looking freaked out and startled.
"Sorry." I said.
"It's okay." He said, and stood up and got dressed. The pounding on my door grew louder.
"I'll be right back." I told Johnny, and walked to the door. I opened it and Ryan was standing there. I felt all the color drain from my face.
"Are you okay? I heard you scream." He said, franticly.
"Yeah, I saw a spider. Sorry." I told him.
"Oh. Is everything okay? I tried to call you this morning to check on you. You were pretty drunk when you called me last night." He said.
"I'm fine." I told him. Matt is worried. I called your office to see if you had made it in." He said.
"OH SHIT! I didn't call in!" I said.
"Why are you wearing your comforter?" He asked me.
"Uh-" Just then there was a loud thud in my room.
"Was that the spider?" Ryan asked.
"Yeah. It was a big spider." I said, sighing.
"Right, I see. I'll, uh, see you around." Ryan said, then left.
"Ryan wait!" I called after him. I ran into the hall, then ran back inside when my neighbor down the hall cat whisled at me. I walked to the bedroom and sat down on the bed.
"Everything okay?" Johnny asked me.
"No." I told him.
"Sorry. I'm actually still kind of drunk from last night. I fell trying to put on my pants." He said, and I laughed.
"Did you have fun last night?" I asked him.
"Yeah. It's a little fuzzy, but I remember having a lot of fun with you in here." He said. "What about you?" He asked.
"It was definatly fun." I told him.
"I'm going to go take some asprin. Do you want some?" I asked him.
"Please." He said. I got up and walked to the bathroom where I put my robe on. Then I went to the kitchen and poured two glasses of water and grabbed the bottle of Asprin. I walked back in my room and Johnny was completely dressed. I gave him his glass of water and an asprin, then took mine.
"I guess I should go, huh?" He asked. I just shrugged.
"This part is awkward." He said.
"Sorry. I'm still really hungover." I told him.
"Well, I had fun. I'll see you around." He said.
"Leave your phone number." I told him.
"Already did." He said. I stood up and he gave me a hug and then left. I went out to the living room and picked up my phone to call Matt. I took a deep breath and hoped I wasn't going to be in any kind of big trouble. I skipped calling the office, and just called him on his cell.
"Sam? Is everything okay?" He asked me.
"Yeah, it's fine." I told him.
"Ryan called here all freaked out." He said.
"Yeah, he just stopped by and woke me up. I'm so sorry I didn't call this morning." I told him.
"I'm just glad everything is okay. Just, please be more careful next time, and try to call in." He said.
"I will. I was stupid last night, and drunk. About what I said-"
"It's okay. It's forgotten." He said.
"Thank you. I'm kind of embarassed now." I told him.
"Don't be. I'll see you tomorrow." He said.
"See you tomorrow." I told him, and we hung up. I took another deep breath and called Ryan.
"Hey." He answered. He sounded mad.
"Ryan, I'm sorry you had to see me like that just now." I told him.
"Hey, don't be. You are your own person. It's not like we're together." He said.
"Ryan, I was really, really drunk, and I did something stupid. I'm sorry." I told him.
"I told you, don't be. You don't owe me anything." He said.
"Yes I do. You're an awesome friend, and-"
"Just a friend. I gotta go." He said, and hung up. I felt like crying.
"What did you do?" I asked myself. Just then there was a light knock on the door. I opened it and Johnny was standing there.
"Hey." I said.
"Sorry. I lost my wallet at some point. It's not in my pants." He said.
"Come in. It's gotta be around here somewhere." I told him, and opened the door. Sure enough, we found it on the kitchen floor by the counter.
"How the hell did it end up in here?" I asked, handing it to him.
"You don't remember?" He asked me.
"Remember what?" I asked. He smiled.
"Uh, nothing." He said, and blushed.
"OH! Now I remember." I said, and giggled. "Hey, let me get dressed, and then what do you say we go walk around for a bit or something." I suggested.
"Sure. I'll be here." He said, and sat down on the couch. I went to my room and changed, then brushed my hair and teeth. I came back out, and Johnny stood up.
"Cute." He said.
"Thanks."
"Shall we?" He asked.
"Sure. I know a good place to get coffee." I told him, and we walked to the cafe where I still worked weekends. I didn't recognize anyone working that morning. We ordered our coffee and sat down at one of the tables.
"What's with the camera?" He asked me. I forgot I had it around my wrist.
"Oh! This. It's kind of what I do." I told him.
"Awesome." He said. We talked for a while and then decided to walk around the city.
"So, whats with the skateboard?" I asked Johnny.
"It's kind of what I do." He said.
"Show me." I told him.
"Okay, come on." He said, and I followed him to the subway.
"Where are we going?" I asked him.
"To a place where I can show you my moves." He said.
"That sounds like a cheesy pick up line." I told him.
"Maybe it is." He said, and I laughed. A few stops later we got off and then walked to a small parking lot behind some abandoned buildings. There were other guys skating around on a little course they had made out of discarded wood, trashcans, railings, and anything else you can imagine. I sat down on a curb to watch him. He dropped his skateboard on the ground and hopped on. He went all over the place! Over trashcans, and small ramps. He even took the ramp that had been layed down over some steps, then jumped and rode the railing down. I was amazed. All the guys were good, but Johnny was by far the best. He skated back over to me, and sat down.
"Well?" He asked.
"Awesome. Now do it again, and I'll show you what I do." I said, holding up my camera.
